Summer Chalk Up Helena!

Have you ever wanted to paint the town red - or yellow, blue or green? Chalk Up Helena! sidewalk chalk-painting festival comes to the downtown walking mall in July.

Sponsored by the City of Helena Public Art Committee, this family-event is held in conjunction with the Downtown Sidewalk Summerfest. Entries are created by families, couples, and groups of friends in addition to chalk art by individual artists.

Artists and non-artists alike are invited to participate, but all who wish participate, including helpers, must submit an application form and non-refundable application fee. The artwork is judged in several categories: children up to 10 years old; 11-18 years old; and adult (19 years old and older). Observers can also vote for their favorite chalk art in each age category for the peoples choice awards. Winners are presented with gift certificates that can be used at downtown merchants.
