HELENA AREA OPEN STUDIOS TOUR 5th ANNUAL PUBLIC ART FUNDRAISER

2013 Helena Area Open Studios Tour Sept. 20-21

 


Fifth Annual Helena Area Open Studios Tour is Saturday and Sunday, September 21-22 from noon to 5:00 PM.  

As a fundraiser to support public art, the annual Open Studios Tour invites the public to visit artists using a variety of artistic mediums at work in their studios and see their creative process. The Tour also gives the public an opportunity to purchase art directly from the participating artists.

This year's Tour features the following artists.  If you saw them at the Spring Art Walk, now you will get a chance to see how they create their art in their studio. Click on the artist's name to see a sample of their work.

1)  Carl Wooten, a native Montanan and trapper, tans hides to make medicine bags, knife sheaths, pistol scabbards, etc. to approximate historical artifacts of early Montana.

2)  Cindy Rose, paints oil and water color paintings inspired by her travels in Europe,  Australia, Alaska,  the British Columbia and Alberta to the Yukon territory.

3)  Marcy Bergmann creates in oils, water color and graphite.  She enjoys painting florals, landscapes, still lifes and anything else that catches her eye.  She likes bright colors and a lot of color

4)  Leah Lambert paints portraits and loves faces, and is challenged to capture each person's own beauty, uniqueness and Spirit.

5)  Liz Harter focuses on mixed media collage and assemblage art using recycled artifacts.  Her pieces emerge as representative collage and assemblage, art dolls, original design oak handbags, and copper and tin collage mirrors.

6)  Robin Maynard, a native Helenan and self-taught artist, paints bright, colorful, stylized depictions of flowers, creatures, landscapes, etc. with acrylics or oil almost daily, and also creates jewelry.

7)  Tara Wilson makes functional wood fired pottery, from place settings and tableware to one of a kind vases and centerpieces that are food safe and can be placed in the microwave or dishwasher.

8)  Ann Wilsnack makes wall hangings, pillows, pot holders, and mobiles, often from recycled materials, or from beautiful and unique found natural materials, fabrics and textiles, creating joyful inspiring artwork. 

9)  Jim Stevens paints oil paintings – landscapes and still life in an impressionistic-realism style, influenced by the early 1900’s impressionist painters.

10)  Carol Montgomery paints comes from her plein air endeavors – painting outside - and her printmaking work is in pursuit of the narrative-cartoon figures and animals that tell a story.

11)  Vivian Hayes creates monoprints and paintings are inspired by the scenes in and around Helena, flower gardens, and favorite felines who often lurk in her work.

12)  Artists at the Upper Missouri Artists Gallery create paintings, sculpture,  limited edition photographs, stained glass, pottery and furniture.
